Greggs did so well opening early to offer people breakfast, it's decided to stay open later too.

Offering options for people working late - although not late enough to become a post-pub option - Greggs said it would bring hot takeaway options to 500 stores and keep them open to 9pm.

And from 4pm a meal deal comes in - allowing you to pick up a hot dinner main, wedges and a drink for £4.

Or, for  half that amount, you can get any pizza and drink for £2 after 4pm - or any hot sandwich, wedges and drink for £4.

"The menu aims to satisfy those on-the-go at dinnertime, looking for value, convenience and of course, great taste," Greggs said in a statement.

Greggs shops across the entire UK will have the new hot counters added - including those in Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow Birmingham, Bristol and the south west.

The first 500 should be ready by Saturday, September 21, representing about one store in four of Greggs' 2000 UK outlets.
